Kentucky Ken
This is a journal of Kenneth Akio Werneburg. Recorded by parents with a website, a camera, and no sense of shame, it chronicles the adventures of a Canadian-Japanese boy growing up in Tokyo.
The name of the website was inspired by our downstairs neighbour. She mis-heard the boy's name as "Kentucky Ken". Somehow.
A photo book detailing Kenny's first year is now for sale on blurb.com
Here's a brief photo triptych of the day in making.

"Enjoying" was perhaps not strong enough a word. He was ecstatic to see that we were building him a bed, a concept he got almost immediately.

He was so pleased, I couldn't do it justice with words. The look on his face was one of pride—like he knew he was growing up, somehow—mixed with delight.
When Mari first placed him on the bed, he had a surprised and unsure look on his face about the pillow. What to do? Move my head? Turn about? When he realized that he could move the pillow about, he promptly began doing so.
